The Brass Tax: Surgery EOB
My Explanation of Benefits (EOB) came yesterday. It was jaw dropping. Here is the break down:
Amount Billed by NYU: 73,755.42
Amount Allowed by Aetna: 38,082.06
Amount Paid by Aetna: 41,960.75
My co-pay: 300.00
Shocking, isn't it? As Charlie pointed out, there is a reason the insurance companies
make patients jump though so many hoops. It is really expensive. Seeing this yesterday made
me even more thankful that everything was covered and I was able to have the VSG. For only
300 dollars!!!
What about you other sleever-readers? Was your bill as shocking as mine?
